About me

With a degree in human-centered-interaction (Media System Design, Dipl.) from the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt, Germany, I started my career as a user-experience-designer in different agencies around Frankfurt/Main. Applying a user centered approach to several projects between 2008 and 2009, I was involved in analyzing existing products and designing the information and navigation architecture for clients from domains such as home automation, household aids and financial investment.

Back at university in 2009, I wanted to extend my knowledge about cognitive mechanisms in order to better understand how people perceive and make sense of the world around them. With a focus on technology enhanced learning, I graduated Master of Science in 2011 from the University of Lyon II, France, in the field of Applied Cognitive Sciences. My final master thesis dealt with the educational possibilities of flowchart-puzzles and interconnected multitouch-tabletops in the classroom.

Shortly after, I followed the path in academia to the University of Tuebingen. Since 2011, I worked as a research assistant at the Department of Applied Cognitive and Media Psychology, and since 2015 in the working group ‘Knowledge Exchange’ of the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien. Lead by Prof. F. W. Hesse and Dr. J. Buder, I was co-responsible for large-scaled experimental studies exploring the educational, social and technical boundaries of group learning in the research program ‘Blended Library’. At the same time, I deepened my understanding in instructional psychology, multimedia learning and self-regulated learning of individuals. Currently, I am writing my doctoral thesis about ‘social metacognition’ – the way individual learners represent their own and their partner's knowledge in a group learning situation, and how these representations guide their collaborative learning behavior (finished presumably spring 2016).

Besides the scientific research I gained further expertise in English writing and presenting, as well as on soft skills such as conflict resolution, communication and leadership management.

Bringing all these competences together I strive for designing (digital) artifacts and environments in agile teams, taking into account user's diverse roles, their changing bahavior and different needs -- a challange I am passionate about.
